Briefly he considers simply not going back to sleep, but he's exhausted-- and he's no money for a hotel-- and there's no one in this place that understands him better than Rin--

[It's been a while since he and Rin have simply hung out. Mahdi's been giving him cooking lessons; the last, at Jack's request, was how to bake cookies. His own turned out rather . . . well, they weren't that great. So the ones Jack's carrying on a plate are actually Mahdi's, and thus far more delicious.

He knocks at her door twice before opening it and ducking his head in.]
