[She sits up from her bunk - apparently she was just skimming something on the communicator - and scrapes her hair out of her face.]

I'm here... hi there. Whatcha got?

[allucinator]

Sweets!

[He clambers onto her bunk without much prelude and sets the plate between them.]

And me, but, you know, mostly sweets. They're good! I helped bake em.

[payback]

[She glances down at the plate and then takes a cookie and smiles at him. Sweets are always a way to butter Rin up; she has a real weakness for chocolate.]

Oh yeah? Good for you, Jack. [She nibbles at a corner and then nods appreciatively.] Thanks!

How are you doing?

[allucinator]

Pretty good. I, uh, I found a pretty good way to keep nightmares. Me and him-- Mahdi, the guy who taught me to cook-- we share a bed. So that's good.

[payback]

[Her eyebrows rise, and her smile remains constant. She's going to let him explain himself at his own time. But she will say:]

Oh, really?

[allucinator]

[He shrugs.]

It helps with the nightmares.

[A beat, and then:]

And he likes kissin' me. So. There's that.

[She glances down, playing with a cookie - slowly squishing it along one side until it starts to break in half.]

A guy, huh?

[allucinator]

Yeah.

[He wrinkles his nose and stares fixedly down at the bed.]

Sorry. I know it's weird, I know it's-- it's, it's fuckin' weird as hell--

[Let's head that off now. She looks up again, the same small smile coming back into rexistence.]

I just didn't know you... wanted that. People at home do that. And Hisoka, do you remember him? He was like that.

[allucinator]

[He still can't meet her gaze, though. His ears have gone red.]

I don't. 'S just-- different, with Mahdi.

[A beat-- and then, rushed:]

We all right?

[payback]

Yeah. Of course, Jack. [A pause. She's thinking of, oh, before: him and Alice. Him and Sirius. He loved them and he doesn't even know he should miss them. He never met them to miss them.]

I just want you to be happy.

[allucinator]

You're sure?

[payback]

As long as you're not hurting anyone or doing something terribly stupid, I'm not going to get mad...
